This is the homeowners second home, where they plan to spend up to six months of the year, their other residence is in Ashville, North Carolina. Founding designers Heather Brock and Jennifer Wundrow established Nest Design Co., Inc. in 2009. Their affinity for mixing objects of different styles and eras, attention to detail, and adventurous use of colour and texture are hallmarks of their fresh take.
THE PROPERTY
The designers extended and completely remodelled the original house over several years – making the interior space more open plan, modern and inviting. The project initially began as a kitchen remodel, but because the owners were so thrilled with the design, they decided to opt for a complete home renovation.

KITCHEN
A white kitchen is a definite ‘lifestyle’ choice – there’s no denying that a white kitchen will always look fresh, stylish, and sophisticated. If you’re minimalist at heart and love a clutter-free kitchen then this is the look for you.
LIVING ROOM
The living room was designed to make the most of the breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay. A muted colour palette of whites, greens and blues have been carefully curated to mimic the great outdoors.
DINING ROOM
Open-plan dining is a popular choice, with many contemporary schemes now eschewing the traditional dining room for a more informal area that blends neatly with kitchen and living space. Here, an eye-catching wallpaper, inspired by the graphic and painterly patterns that are popular at present, creates an interesting feature wall, and helps to offset the geometric fabric on the seat pads. POWDER ROOM
The patterned wallpaper in this small space adds instant impact. Powder rooms and cloakrooms are the perfect spaces to experiment with colour, pattern and texture.
UTILITY ROOM
The utility room was the homeowners favourite change, as it has been completely transformed. A considered laundry, boot room or pantry, will help to ensure that calm and order prevails throughout the rest of your home. SeeDesign house: A modern townhouse in Vancouver, designed by Karin Bohn
MASTER BATHROOM
The bathroom offers spending views of the Bay and beyond. The designers wanted to create a bathroom that was linked to the bedroom with only a vanity unit acting as a divider.
MASTER BEDROOM
The bedroom is a graceful mix of complementary colours. ‘We worked with the furnishings that the clients already owned to create a harmonious scheme,’ say the designers. Photography/ Thomas Kuoh Interior design/ Nest Design Co. (opens in new tab) Interior stylist/ Sarah Alba (opens in new tab)
