The impressive five-day floral spectacle taking place in the grounds of Chatsworth House, Derbyshire opened its gates today and will welcome visitors until Sunday 9th June. See our news section for more recent events A bounty of RHS Gold Medals were awarded across the show with The Wedgwood Garden winning not only a Gold Medal, but also crowned Best Show Garden and the Best Construction Award. With a colour palette referencing Wedgwood’s Jasperware of rich sky blue, lush greens and deep crimson, the garden design is simple and scaled back to bring the planting to the fore. This echoes John Wedgewood’s sentiment when wanting to creating his own garden, which he described as ‘not laid out to compel admiration, but instead a homely and loveable space’. Speaking of the garden’s medal announcement, Jamie said: ‘I’m absolutely blown away by the response The Wedgwood Garden has received. It has been such a privilege to design a garden for such an esteemed British brand, particularly so early on in my career. I hope that the garden communicated John Wedgwood’s passion for horticulture and encourages more and more people to come together through gardening. This tranquil space is the perfect place to unwind and meditate. A mini forest provides tree canopy and references the healing way Shinrin Yoku Forest Therapy, the medicine of simply being in the forest. The Bess of Hardwick Boarder, which takes inspiration from another Derbyshire house, Hardwick Hall, was named Best Long Boarder.
