Kelly Wearstler proves that the path to fulfilling entrepreneurial dreams is much more complex than outward glamor can ever express. In addition to these skills she brings impeccable instincts, self-belief, an indefatigable work ethic and a passionate desire to continually evolve – some of which she shares with H&G here, along with invaluable interior design tips. From launching her eponymous studio Kelly Wearstler (opens in new tab) as a solo designer in 1995, Kelly has built a business which, today, employs a team of 50 designers and architects, housed in a studio in West Hollywood, Los Angeles....

Today, Kit continues as Creative Director of Firmdale, as well as running her eponymous design studio Kit Kemp (opens in new tab). Two of the couple’s daughters work in the Firmdale business. Willow Kemp heads collaborative partnerships and Minnie Kemp is an interior designer. Kit has authored four books, including Design Secrets (opens in new tab), written during the pandemic, collaborated on multiple product ranges with respected brands and recently launched a residential design service....

Today she continues to head the business alongside her brother Simon Jeffreys who has been her business partner and the company’s Chief Executive since 1986. I actually own a KitchenAid oven, now it’s going on 15 years old, and I think the cooking performance is on par with its full-size counterpart.
